VETERINARIANS
Jennifer Betz, DVM
Dr. Jennifer Betz was born and raised in Florida and earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of South Florida in 1993. She graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After practicing for one year in Alabama she relocated to Oregon. Dr. Betz joined Sandy Animal Clinic in January 2002 and her professional interests are in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. When she is not practicing at sandy Animal Clinic she spends her time working as a Federal Employee for the Department of Health and Human Services, NDMS on the National Veterinary Response Team (NVRT-4). Dr. Betz is an active member of the AVMA, PVMA, VMAT-5 and OVERT. In her spare time she often volunteers her time providing veterinary medicine and surgery in undeveloped countries with different organizations. In her personal life she enjoys hiking with her yellow Labrador, Sandy and Golden Retriever, Kona.
Craig Loftin, DVM
Dr. Loftin was born and raised in Northern California. He served honorably in the United States Marines for six years, then attended the University of California, Davis where he received his Bachelor’s in Veterinary Science in 1998 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Loftin was in private practice in California and Washington from 2001-2004, when he was accepted for a one year rotating medical and surgical internship at a large private specialty practice in Los Angeles. Following the rotating internship, Dr. Loftin completed an additional year internship in surgery at the same practice. His professional interests are surgical and medical management of cancer, soft tissue surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Loftin and his wife enjoy reading, hiking, and watching their two children grow.
Bridget Duroche, DVM
Animals have always been a special part of Bridget Duroche’s life. She grew up in the rural Midwest, training and showing dogs in 4-H as a child and later showing in the AKC circuit. After a long career with Hallmark, Inc. as a fine arts reproduction technician, she returned to college to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian. After earning her DVM from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, she returned to the Midwest to be near family and joined a multi-doctor private practice. In 2006 Dr. Duroche established on on-site veterinary clinic at Animal Haven, a major rescue/adoption facility in Merriam, KS, providing medical care for 250-300 dogs and cats housed at the shelter. Dr. Duroche has also provided relief veterinary services to over 26 clinics in the Kansas City and Portland Metro areas. She moved to Oregon in 2008 with her husband, two cats (Missy and Sasha) and her Brussels Griffon (Amber). She is proud to be a member of the Sandy Animal team and her professional interests are in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, skiing, swimming and relaxing with a good book.
Christine Kurowski, DVM
Dr. Christine Kurowski grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While in school she did an internship at the Anti-cruelty Society of Chicago, worked at the University sheep farm, and learned to care for all animals, large and small. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian graduating from University of Illinois with her DVM in 2005. Following graduation she began working at a multi-doctor private practice near her hometown. In the summer of 2011 Dr. Kurowski moved to Oregon and joined Sandy Animal Clinic in September 2011. Dr. Kurowski has a passion for soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery and building long lasting doctor-client relationships. Dr. Kurowski enjoys hiking and exploring the Pacific Northwest with her boyfriend and her mixed breed dog, Jack.
Brandy Kagerer, Hospital Manager
Brandy Kagerer grew up in the small town of Okoboji, Iowa. She began working at the local veterinary clinic in 1998 as a kennel assistant then was trained as a technician and groomer. After three years in the veterinary field, Brandy’s desire to gain more knowledge in management and human resources lead her to peruse opportunities offered in hotel management. Brandy has managed several multi-million dollar hotels including some in the Hilton Hotel chain. In 2004 she moved to Oregon with her husband and 3 children. Her love for animals left her wanting to get back in to the veterinary field. Shortly after moving to Oregon she began working for Sandy Animal Clinic as a receptionist and was promoted to manager the next year. When Brandy is not managing the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and visiting the ocean.
